FDA Compliant Sheet, Rod, & Tube

The FDA (Food & Drug Administration) is a federal agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. They are responsible for determining which materials may be used in places where the materials will come into direct contact with food products. Materials that meet their specifications for safety regarding food contact are FDA Compliant, which is an official way of saying that the material is considered "food grade." These materials have the qualities and composition that make them safe for food contact - they have been examined by the FDA and will not cause adverse harm or affect the color, odor, or taste of the food that they come into contact with. The FDA also refers to food grade materials as food contact substances, or FCS for short. FCS/Food grade materials must be used when a material would come into contact with, or is used in:

• Food processing and manufacturing
• Food packaging
• Transportation of food
• Food storage

When purchasing FDA compliant materials, please keep in mind the following to ensure that the material remains FDA compliant after purchase:

1. The purchased material must be able to handle the stress of the environment it is placed in.
2. Not all materials are safe for all types of food. Please make sure your material meets the safety requirements for the types of food it comes into contact with.
3. The purchased material should be used within its recommended safe temperature range.
