Natural Virgin PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) sheet—also known by the brand name Teflon®¹—is a high-performance fluoropolymer made for extreme environments where other plastics fail. Offering nearly universal chemical immunity and continuous stability from -400°F to +500°F, it is an exceptional choice for for critical sealing and non-stick applications.

Looking for enhanced mechanical properties? For applications requiring higher compression strength and reduced cold flow, we offer Glass-Filled PTFE and Mechanical Grade PTFE options.

Virgin vs. Mechanical Grade PTFE: Which Do You Need?

While virgin and mechanical grades of PTFE look similar, their internal composition produces distinct peformance differences:

Choose Virgin PTFE (This Sheet) for food contact, medical applications, or high-end electrical insulation. It has the highest purity, the best physical properties, and the lowest friction.
Choose Mechanical Grade for non-critical gaskets or spacers where cost is the primary factor. It contains reprocessed material and is not FDA compliant.

Fabrication & Machining

PTFE is easily cut, drilled, and routed, though its softness requires exceptionally sharp tooling to prevent deformation.

Engineering Note: PTFE is a "cold-flow" material that may creep under constant, heavy loads. If dimensional stability under high pressure is required, use Glass-Filled PTFE.
