Noryl Overview
What is Noryl?

Noryl plastic is a strong thermoplastic with superior mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties. Noryl is known for its low moisture absorption, low thermal expansion, and high flame resistance. It is an excellent choice for applications requiring dimensional stability over a wide range of service temperatures. Noryl is widely used for electrical housings and structural components due to its excellent insulating properties. Noryl is also used in fluid handling applications and insulation due to its low moisture absorption and excellent strength and stiffness.

What is Noryl used for?

Noryl plastic is used in many industries, including automotive, electrical and electronics, appliance and consumer goods, power tool, and medical products. Noryl is used for making connectors, junction boxes, equipment housings for switches and electronic components, lighting fixtures, as well as handles, knobs, and other parts. Noryl is also used to manufacture fan blades, impellers, and other components in air-moving systems, and in medical applications such as syringe cartridges and drug-delivery systems.

Customers Also Asked:
What kind of plastic is Noryl?

Noryl is an engineering thermoplastic made from modified PPO (polyphenylene oxide) or PPE (polyphenylene ether). A fantastic balance of thermal, mechanical, and electrical insulating properties allows Noryl to fit applications across a large range of temperatures.

What is Noryl made of?

Noryl consists of PPO or PPE combined with a modifier, typically polystyrene. This combination gives Noryl its high heat resistance, stiffness, good electrical properties, creep resistance, and good impact strength.

Is Noryl recyclable?

Yes - certain grades of Noryl are recyclable. Post-industrial and post-consumer recycled Noryl has been successfully made with up to 37% PCR (post-consumer recycled) content.

Is Noryl food grade?

Noryl EN265 is not food grade, but FDA compliant grades of Noryl exist that use High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) as the modifier.
