Cut-To-Size Items are Non-Returnable!

As per our Shipping and Returns Policy, custom cuts and fabricated parts are non-returnable. If you need an over- or undersized item, note it under \"Comments\" during Checkout. Cut-to-size orders have an acceptable cut tolerance of 1/8" (0.125"), so clarify if the adjustment is to be made on the (+) or (-) side of the saw blade. Please review our full return and shipping policy here.

Measure Twice, Cut Once

Since custom cuts and fabricated parts are non-refundable, be very careful while measuring your dimensions. As each cut is nominal, even the slightest miscalculation could be costly.

How to Use a Measuring Tape

Extend your tape measure several inches to find the 1 and 2 inch markers. In between the inch markers you’ll find 16 equally spaced tick marks.

Measure by counting the increments beyond the nearest inch. As the increments decrease, so does the length of the mark. For example, 1/2\" has a bigger mark than 1/4\" which has a bigger mark than 1/8\". The smallest mark follows at 1/16\". Please be aware that some measuring tapes may have even smaller increments.

Features of a Measuring Tape: Sliding End Hook

The sliding end hook is designed for two different types of measurements. An outside measurement (where the hook of the tape hangs over an edge), requires the hook to slide out a bit to account for the thickness of the material. When making an inside measurement (where the hook will push up against a surface), the clip slides in, again, accounting for its thickness. The measuring tape self-adjusts to guarantee an accurate measurement (as far as the tape is concerned).

The Professional Standard for Optical Clarity

Clear Cast Acrylic (also known as plexiglass) is the industry standard for applications requiring maximum optical clarity and a premium, high-gloss finish. This professional-grade material offers a more uniform surface and superior structural integrity compared to extruded alternatives, making it the preferred choice for high-end fabrication and display.

Cast Acrylic is the commercial standard for retail fixtures, architectural glazing, and outdoor signage. UV-stable and weather-resistant, this material provides excellent resistance to yellowing and environmental degradation, ensuring long-term transparency in demanding conditions. Its durable surface is easy to maintain, making it a reliable solution for both decorative and structural projects.

Looking for clear extruded options or more impact-resistant clear materials? Check out our Extruded Acrylic or General Purpose Polycarbonate.

Why Choose Cast Over Extruded Acrylic?

Cast acrylic is manufactured by pouring liquid resin into a mold, resulting in a material with higher thermal stability and chemical resistance. Choose cast acrylic sheet if you need:

  • Unmatched Optical Clarity: 92% light transmission with a "water-white" edge.
  • Superior Machining: Higher thermal stability means the material won't gum up or melt during high-speed CNC routing or drilling.
  • Laser-Ready Finish: Produces a clean, polished edge directly from the laser—no secondary polishing required.
  • Crazing Resistance: More resilient against cleaners, solvents, and adhesives compared to extruded grades.

Cast Acrylic vs. Polycarbonate: Which Do You Need?

Choosing the right clear plastic depends on your environment and performance requirements.

  • Choose Cast Acrylic if you prioritize aesthetics, scratch resistance, and the ability to polish edges. It is 17 times stronger than glass but remains brittle under extreme impact.
  • Choose Polycarbonate if you need unbreakable strength for safety guards or high-traffic areas where visual brilliance is secondary to impact protection.

Fabrication & Machining

Cast acrylic machines very well, but it is brittle and notch-sensitive. However, its density allows for beautiful edge polishing, precise tapping, and crisp engravings that stay sharp over time.
